3 dynamic desktop backgrounds for macOS Mojave

Dynamic Desktop is one of the favorite features of macOS Mojave. Among the standard, only two such backgrounds are available: the same desert that we were shown at the presentation, and minimalistic color gradients. There are no other dynamic wallpapers at the moment. We tried and found three more backgrounds on the Internet that change during the day.

The desktop image will change according to the time of day.

Dynamic wallpapers were added to macOS Mojave: the time of day on the photo was synchronized with the time on the computer, and the picture changed before our eyes during the day. Many have been waiting for live backgrounds to come to iOS soon. But three years later, this has not happened. And Reddit users figured out how to implement the feature with quick commands.

The user experience is as close as possible to the original dynamic wallpaper. Backgrounds from macOS Big Sur are used and are automatically scaled and cropped to fit the device’s screen resolution. When launched, the command determines the time of sunrise and sunset by geolocation, and then sets the image corresponding to the time of day. To work in automatic mode, the command automation function is used.

To install live wallpaper, please follow the steps below.

Add a team

To add wallpapers, follow the link and click “Get Quick Command”. When the “Teams” app opens, scroll down the list of actions and tap “Add untrusted shortcut”.

Upload wallpapers to your iCloud Drive

Open the archive from the download menu, and then click on it to extract the images in the opened Files app.

Go to the folder with files, tap “Select” in the menu and then “Select All”.

Click the move icon, go to the Shortcuts folder and tap “Move”.

Set up automation

In “Teams” on the “Automation” tab, click on the plus sign and select “Create an automation for yourself.”

Open the “Application”, tap “Select”, select the one you need and click “Next”.

Tap “Add Action”, search for “Run” and select “Run Shortcut”.

Specify Dynamic Wallpaper as the command.

Click “Next” and then turn off the toggle switch “Ask before launch” and tap “Finish”.
